.de domain prices by registrar

The cheapest .de renewal is Hetzner at €3.90 a year including German VAT, followed by Porkbun at €4.35 and INWX at €4.65 once converted and with VAT added. Over five years, counting the first year and four renewals in euros including VAT, Porkbun is cheapest at €20.50, then Hetzner at €21.50 and netcup at €25.20. All figures are as the registrars published them in October 2026.

Monthly prices and contract terms

IONOS, Strato and netcup quote .de by the month: €1.30, €1.00 and €0.42. The yearly figures in the table are those multiplied by twelve. Strato and netcup still require a 12-month minimum. IONOS states its .de contract can be cancelled monthly, and INWX sells .de with a minimum term of one month.

Deletion and the restore fee

A deleted .de enters a 30-day Redemption Grace Period, during which only the last holder, or someone they name, can get it back. Entering the period is free. Restoring from it is not: DENIC charges the registrar a fee it does not publish, and the registrar passes it on. united-domains charges €19, INWX €23.91 plus VAT, OVHcloud €59.49, Hetzner €61.88 and Strato €90 (€20 if the domain has not yet entered the period, VAT not stated). Namecheap charges $30. Most registrars do not publish the figure at all, so ask before you need it. Moving to a cheaper registrar

A .de moves between registrars with an authorisation code from your current one, which you give to the new registrar. The transfer fee in the table is what the new registrar charges to take it in, and it can pay for itself at the first renewal. Moving a .de from Gandi, where renewal is €31.98 plus VAT, to Hetzner or INWX costs about €3.90 to €4.65 including VAT and saves more than €33 on the next renewal. Strato and united-domains take transfers in for free. Check the holder details on the domain first, because the registry record stays the same and DENIC can still ask a holder abroad for an authorised recipient in Germany. What DENIC charges

DENIC does not publish the fee its members pay per domain. It does sell .de directly through DENICdirect, at €79 a year including VAT for registration, transfer in and each renewal. That service mainly exists as a fallback, for example for a domain whose registrar stops managing it. As a retail choice it costs many times any registrar here.

Buying from outside Germany

Any registrant worldwide can hold a .de directly, so these prices apply to you wherever you are based. The one extra rule for a holder outside Germany is an authorised recipient in Germany, which DENIC asks for only in a dispute.
