The same .eu record costs from under €9 to €30 a year to renew, depending on the registrar. First-year offers hide most of the difference, and restore fees are where the spread is widest.
Porkbun and OVHcloud have the lowest .eu renewals, at $5.88 and €8.59, and neither discounts the first year much, so what you see is what you keep paying. Gandi, united-domains and TransIP all open below €8 and renew at €27 to €30.

The renewal markup
A .eu at Gandi costs €3.99 in the first year and €30 on renewal, more than seven times as much. GoDaddy's one-cent first year requires a three-year purchase, with the extra years at €10.99. Neither is unusual in the industry, but both mean the first-year price says little about what a .eu costs to hold. Budget on the renewal figure, and consider a registrar that lets you register for several years at once: EURid allows terms of one to ten years.

Published restore fees in the table
A .eu that is not renewed goes into a 40-day quarantine. Website and email stop working, and the name can be reactivated through the registrar at any point in the 40 days. EURid charges its registrars for each reactivation, and the registrar sets the retail price: €5.99 at OVHcloud, £90 at IONOS. A name revoked because the holder was not eligible can only be reactivated by EURid itself.
What EURid publishes
EURid does not publish the fee it charges registrars per domain. Its registrar agreement refers to fees on its website, but no public price list is available. It does publish the cost of becoming a registrar: a €2,500 advance payment and at least €500 of transactions a year.
The price assumes you are eligible
Every price here is for a holder who meets the .eu eligibility rules: an EU or EEA citizen, resident or established organisation. Not every registrar checks this at checkout, and a cheap registration by an ineligible holder can be revoked later.
