A reputable German registrar with a large retail base, and the clearest example on this site of a service that deserves different scores on different domains. On .eu it is our pick: the trustee route runs on a separate written .eu Trustee Contract you complete before anything is registered, the company states plainly that its trustee acts as the owner and that you hold full rights of use, the domain price is published at €5 including VAT in the first year and €29 a year after, and the price list carries no setup fee, no transfer fee and no owner-change fee. Since leaving a .eu trustee always requires a change of registrant, a free owner change is worth more than any annual discount. On .de the same bundled model is a downgrade, because there you could be the holder yourself at no cost. The weaknesses on .eu are that the trustee entity is not named before you sign, the service is not priced as a separate line, and the trustee material is published in German only.

What is checked

Per-TLD fees and five-year totals, the contract terms on surrender and transfer, the legal entity that becomes the registrant of record in each country, non-payment behaviour, and what shows in each registry's public lookup. Figures are published only once verified against the provider's current pricing, with a date. Ratings are given per extension in each comparison table, weigh contract transparency, exit terms and holding structure ahead of price, and are not affected by affiliate arrangements because there are none.
