A competent, established registrar and our pick for .fr, where a French counterparty inside the registry's own governance counts for something: Netim has sat on Afnic's board since 2022, elected from among the registrars' representatives. It is also the rare provider that publishes the trustee fee and the domain fee together, .fr at €7 promotionally then €12 on renewal with the trustee at €25 a year excluding VAT, and that publishes the exit: cancel by updating the restricted contact's details or by changing the holder to a party that qualifies, and an outgoing transfer requires that change of holder first. The service works by listing Netim or one of its partners as the registrant on your behalf while you keep beneficial ownership. Weaknesses: the trustee fee is more than twice the domain fee, Netim does not name the partner entity when it is not Netim itself, and on .no the same €60 trustee fee sits on a €16 domain with no published exit terms at all. It declines to offer a .eu trustee, which reads as a company that checks the registry rules before selling.

Figures are published only once verified against the provider's current pricing, with a date. Ratings are given per extension in each comparison table, weigh contract transparency, exit terms and holding structure ahead of price, and are not affected by affiliate arrangements because there are none.
