You do not need a trustee for .dk, and we found nobody selling one. What a foreign buyer needs is a registrar that gets them through Punktum dk's identity check without the domain being suspended. That makes the useful comparison one of candour about the check, not of trustee fees.
The pick is 101domain, for candour rather than price. Its .dk page says plainly that there is no trustee service and no privacy service, lists what the identity check asks for, and states that verification applies to new registrations, contact updates and incoming transfers. At $35.49 then $53.99 it is not cheap. If you want the lowest fee, Netim lists €16 for registration and renewal, though its page says nothing about the check.
Read the first rule on the .dk explainer before buying anything: clause 4.1 of Punktum dk's Conditions requires the registrant's data to be accurate so that the registrant can be identified and contacted. A service that puts its own details on your domain works against that clause.

Domain fees are registration, then renewal, excluding VAT where the provider says so, in the currency it publishes. Ratings are per domain: they weigh candour about the check, a published exit and a named counterparty ahead of the fee. Each service links to its profile in the provider directory, and the methodology explains how we check.
What you are buying
Since July 2026 every new .dk domain is registered under registrar management. Clause 2.1 of the Conditions has the registrar act for you on payments, contact data, identity checks, name servers, transfers and termination. You remain the registrant, so the public record shows your name and address, and the right of use is yours under clause 1.4.
Key point
Why none of these is a trustee
The one thing a registrar can fail at is the check. Punktum dk's registrar procedure (version 1.1, July 2026) lets a registrar verify its own customers, and clause 4.3 lets it terminate for failure, which can reach every name on the same contact details. A provider that verifies badly puts all of your .dk names at risk, not one.
The services in detail
101domain ★★★★★
Its page, marked updated in May 2026, asks for government ID, a live selfie and proof of address, and for organisations a tax or VAT ID and company documents. It says private registration is unavailable and names NIS2 as the reason. Terms are one year only. To transfer out you must first change the name servers away from its defaults. Weakness: its table says no trustee while its footer links a trustee page, and a $150 fee applies if renewal is missed. Full profile.
Openprovider ★★★★★
A Dutch wholesale platform whose .dk documentation, updated within the week we read it, says local presence is not required and it provides none. It sets out the 30-day check, the suspension and deletion that follow, and offers to submit ID documents for foreign registrants. Weakness: it is reached through a reseller, publishes no price, and describes an owner change and delete and restore on registrar-managed names as under review or being finalised. It also says an email or a phone check is enough where Punktum dk's registrar procedure accepts only an email reply. Full profile.
Com Laude ★★★★★
A corporate portfolio manager whose .dk page is the only one to use Punktum dk's own vocabulary. It describes registrar management and registrant management, and offers to act as registrar, billing contact or proxy, with consent withdrawable in Punktum dk's system and a proxy unable to terminate your agreement. Weakness: no price and no ID-check detail. Full profile.
Netim ★★★★★
The lowest published fee: €16 to register and €16 to renew, excluding VAT, with a free first transfer and a €42 restore. Names are registered within three days. Weakness: the page describes no ID check, says an owner change is by contact only, and lists WHOIS privacy as available, which Punktum dk's published rule does not support for a foreign registrant. Full profile.
Gandi ★★★★★
A retail registrar that publishes the rules for Danish and foreign registrants separately, and the owner-change route: a form with supporting documents, expiry unchanged. Registration is $16.76 and renewal $39.98. Weakness: its page gives 10 days to supply documents and 4 days to sign the registry agreement, against 25 days in clause 4.4, and does not mention the July 2026 registrar model. Full profile.
EuroDNS ★★★★★
Publishes the exit costs: €11 to transfer, €36 for an owner change and €50 plus the renewal to reactivate, with a first year at €16.89 and €36 after. It states that the registrant must activate within 25 days and that a business needs a VAT or tax ID. Weakness: it says individuals' details are hidden in the public lookup, which conflicts with Punktum dk's notice. Full profile.
CentralNic Reseller ★★★★★
Directly accredited, and its documentation is the one that tracks the July 2026 change: all .dk registrations run under the new registrar model, renewals are limited to one year, and the domain's model can be read from its status. Weakness: nothing on the ID check, no price, and as a wholesale platform it sits behind a reseller. Full profile.
InterNetX ★★★★★
Its .dk page asks for a tax number from an individual and a VAT number from a company, and keeps .dk off its trustee list. That is the accurate position. Weakness: no price, which lives inside AutoDNS, and no word on the ID check or on leaving. Full profile.
EuropeID ★★★★★
A Danish company, charging €46 for registration and renewal alike. Its .dk page says no local company and no local administrative contact is needed, which is correct. Weakness: it never says who becomes the registrant, says nothing about verification or leaving, and is the dearest here. Its sister site Web Solutions appears to share an operator and a phone number; we could not load a .dk page there. Full profile.
Services we could not rate
Marcaria and Safenames blocked our checker, so we read only search summaries. Marcaria's help centre is summarised as saying .dk has no requirements and needs no documentation, which Punktum dk's checks contradict, so confirm before you buy. Domgate lists no Danish service among the countries we read, and Web Solutions returned no .dk page.
How to choose
- Register in your own name. You are verified once and keep the right of use. Do not accept a provider's address on your registration.
- Prepare the documents first. Photo ID and a selfie, or company documents, plus proof of address under three months old. See the .dk explainer for what Punktum dk accepts.
- Ask who runs the check, and who watches the deadline. Punktum dk or the registrar. The Conditions allow 25 days.
- Do not rely on hidden WHOIS details. Expect your name and address to be public.
- Price the exit. Ask what a transfer and an owner change cost. Clause 7.6 blocks both while a check is open.

Frequently asked questions
Does the trustee own my .dk domain?
There is no trustee to own it. You are the registrant and the right of use is yours under clause 1.4 of Punktum dk's Conditions. A registrar acts for you under clause 2.1, and the public record shows your name. Nobody owns the name outright: the Conditions speak of a right of use.
Can I move a .dk domain later?
Yes. Clause 2.4 lets you change registrar at any time, and Punktum dk no longer charges a transfer fee, so any cost is the registrar's: free at Gandi, free for a first transfer at Netim, €11 at EuroDNS. You cannot move it while an identity check is open or the domain is suspended (clause 7.6).
What if the registrar goes bust?
Clause 2.4 says that if a registrar has no valid contract, Punktum dk moves the domain to temporary registrant management rather than dropping it. You can then choose a new registrar. Keep your own documents ready, because a new registrar must verify you again.
Notes
Prices checked October 2026 as published by each provider. 101domain lists $35.49, $53.99 and a $35.49 transfer. Netim lists €16 excluding VAT. Gandi lists $16.76 and $39.98 on its US page. EuroDNS lists €16.89 against a €36 list price. EuropeID lists €46. Openprovider, CentralNic Reseller, Com Laude and InterNetX publish no .dk price. Clause numbers are from Punktum dk's Conditions for a .dk domain name, version 15, July 2026. Provider terms are summarised from each company's own pages, and where a page is silent the table says so. This is not legal advice.
